25 YEARS WITH VIVEKANANDA GROUP OF SCHOOLS

Dulichand Jain was an inspiring force in many organizations which are devoted to the twin goals of education and humane values. He had raised crores of rupees from philanthropists for the development of many of these organizations. With his untiring service, he had assisted in building their infra-structure and overall growth.

✦ Vivekananda Educational Trust, Chennai (Founder Trustee 1988-1996 & President 1996 – 2020)

A non-profit organization in Chennai, this was started in 1988 to promote educational institutions in rural areas.  It presently runs 8 schools where 7000 students are receiving value based education. D. C, Jain was a Founder Trustee of this organization and served as President from 1996-2020.

He had been instrumental in developing four schools under this trust:
» Smt. Krishna Moolchand Maheswari Vivekanda Vidyalaya, Nachiar Chatram, Thiruninravur – 602024.
» Sri S. Badalchand Sugankavur Chordia Vivekanda Vidyalaya, Beemeswar Street, Mudichur – Chennai – 600 048.
» Smt. Gangadevi Bajranglal Chokhani Vivekananda Vidyalaya Hr. Sec. School, Surya Nagar, Minjur, Chennai – 601 203.
» Smt. Samjuben Kapurchand Parekh Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Perumal Koil Street, MMC, Chennai – 600051.

✦ Vivekananda Educational Society, Chennai (Vice President 1997 – 2016)

This society runs 25 schools in remote (most backward and neglected) areas of Chennai and provides quality education to 40,000 Students. D. C. Jain was a member of the Management Committee since 1985 and had served as the Treasurer and Vice President. The organization also manages Vivekananda Institution for Educational Research and Training at Chennai.

He had been instrumental in developing four schools under this society:
» Sreevatsa Viswanathan Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Junior College, 13, Abraham Lincoln Street, Nazip Avenur, Chitlapakkam, Chennai – 600064.
» Vivekananda Vidyakala, Ashram Gurukulam – Residential school, M.S Jain Gyana Vihar, Puliyur Village, Sivanvoil post, Thiruvallur District – 602024.
» Durgaprasad Subhaschand Gupta Vivekananda Vidyalaya, 46, Etteeswaran Koil Street, Melayanambakkam, Chennai 600095.
» Mandanlal Khemani Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Sami Reddy Kandigai, Periyar Nagar, GNT Road, Gummidipoondi, Thiruvallur District – 601201.

✦ Vivekananda Vidya Kala Ashram, Chennai (Founder Trustee 2005 – 2020)

This is a non-profit residential school established in 2002 in Chennai amidst spacious green surroundings. At present 500 students are studying here and benefitting from the school’s ideal emphasis on character building.

✦ Vidya Bharathi All India Educational Organization Tamilnadu State Unit (Vice President 1995 – 2016)

This organization promotes national and cultural values in 200 schools in Tamilnadu. Jain was associated with it since 1989 and was serving as Patron since 2013-14.


SERVICE TO OTHER EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

✦ Jain Vidyashram, Puzhal, Chennai (Founder Secretary 1987 – 2002)

This is a Residential cum Day School established in 1987 in Chennai on 10 acres of land and is a non-profit service project. At present 3500 students study here.

✦ Research Foundation for Jainology, Chennai (Secretary 1987 – 2002)

This Institute was established in 1985 in Chennai and promotes research studies in Jainology. It has established the Department of Jainology in the University of Madras, thereby enabling M.A, M.Phil and Ph.d students in their quest for higher learning and research.

✦ Shri S. S. Jain Educational society, Chennai (Executive Committee Member 1987 – Present)

This institution runs several schools and colleges in Chennai.


OTHERS

D. C. Jain served as President of Lions Club of Nandambakkam, and as District Chairman of Lions International. He was President of Nagaur Jain Association, Chennai and was also associated with many other social, cultural and literary organizations.
